Job Title: MySQL DBA
Experience Required:
- 68 years of hands-on production experience as a MySQL DBA.
Core Skills & Technical Expertise:
- Databases: Strong experience with MySQL 8.x, Percona Server, or MariaDB and associated ecosystem tools.
- Backup & Recovery: Proven background with backup/restore, PITR, replication, clustering, and high-availability architectures.
- Performance & Optimization: Deep knowledge of InnoDB internals, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
Tools & Automation:
Practical experience with native MySQL backup, Percona XtraBackup, mysqldump, and MySQL shell toolkit.
- Knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
Experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (1–2 years preferred).
Monitoring & Observability: Experience with Prometheus/Grafana, PMM, Datadog, or similar tools.
Infrastructure & OS:
Solid understanding of Unix/Linux/Solaris operating systems, network, storage, and compute.
Experience with Linux distributions like RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu.
Version Control & Project Tools: Familiarity with Jira and Git.
- Scripting & Task Automation: Experience in automating regular maintenance tasks.
Soft Skills & Attributes:
- Strong troubleshooting skills for databases and related stack components.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to produce technical documentation and runbooks.
- Proactive, service-oriented, and ownership mentality.
- Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and mentoring junior DBAs.
- Curious mindset with drive to learn new technologies and improve processes in service management, analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance.
