Job Title: Project Manager Mining Projects (Consulting)

Location: Chennai

Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished and results-driven Project Manager – Mining to lead and manage large-scale mining projects for our clients. This is a client-facing consulting role that demands strong technical expertise, robust project management skills, and deep domain knowledge across both underground and opencast mining operations.

The ideal candidate will combine a solid foundation in mining engineering with strategic consulting experience, delivering high-value insights and project outcomes for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of mining projects, including feasibility studies, project planning, execution, and performance optimization.
  • Engage with senior client stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into actionable project plans.
  • Provide technical and strategic advisory for both underground and open-pit mining projects.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams including geologists, mining engineers, financial analysts, and environmental consultants.
  • Oversee budgets, timelines, deliverables, and quality standards across all project phases.
  • Develop business cases, proposals, and comprehensive reports for clients.
  • Ensure strict adherence to regulatory, environmental, and safety compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives by identifying opportunities and supporting client pitches.
  • Mentor junior consultants and support internal capability building and knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering from ISM Dhanbad – Mandatory
  • MBA from IIM – Mandatory
  • 3–10 years of total experience, including at least 5 years in a mining consulting environment (preferably within a Big 4 firm).
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering large-scale mining projects on time and within budget.
  • Hands-on project management experience in both underground and opencast mining projects (highly preferred).
  • Familiarity with leading mining software/tools (e.g., Surpac, MineSched, Datamine) is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of global mining standards, safety regulations, and sustainability practices.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
