About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Consensus Algorithm Researcher to join our core protocol team. In this role, you will research, design, and analyze novel consensus mechanisms that ensure security, scalability, and decentralization of our blockchain platform. You will work closely with cryptographers, protocol engineers, and system architects to pioneer next-generation consensus algorithms that can power decentralized networks at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct original research on consensus protocols including Proof-of-Work, Proof-of-Stake, Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT), DAG-based, and novel hybrid models.
  • Design and prototype consensus algorithms aimed at improving throughput, latency, energy efficiency, and security.
  • Analyze and formally verify the security properties and fault tolerance of consensus mechanisms.
  • Develop simulation tools and benchmarks to evaluate consensus protocols under different network conditions and adversarial scenarios.
  • Collaborate with blockchain engineers to implement and test consensus protocols in real-world environments.
  • Publish research papers and technical reports in academic and industry forums.
  • Monitor and analyze emerging trends and breakthroughs in distributed consensus and cryptographic research.
  • Mentor junior researchers and contribute to building a strong research culture within the team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science, Cryptography, Distributed Systems, or a related field.

  • Strong theoretical foundation in:

  • Distributed algorithms and consensus theory

  • Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT)
  • Cryptographic protocols and primitives

  • Game theory and incentive design

  • Experience with formal methods and verification tools (e.g., TLA+, Coq, Isabelle).

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Rust, Go, or C++ for prototyping.
  • Familiarity with blockchain architecture and key concepts like finality, fork choice rules, and validator economics.
  • Ability to write clear, concise research papers and technical documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity.
