Where You Come In
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of lab equipment, & proficient at handling lab equipment & the preparation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides timely lab support to teachers, staff and students
- Maintains a schedule of preventative maintenance for all equipment and keeps adequate manuals and maintenance logs for equipment and parts
- Observes and reinforces safety and housekeeping procedures and protocol within the lab
- Maintains systems and procedures to track borrowed equipment and tools
- Mentoring students during practical lab sessions, ensuring adherence to proper techniques and safety practices
- Recommends solutions to continuously improve lab operations
- Controls the distribution of consumable materials and ensures adequate inventory levels for supplies within the lab
- May assemble new or modified equipment such as servers, workstations, routers, switches and systems
- Receives, installs, maintains and assists with ordering of lab equipment and supplies
- Interacts regularly with suppliers regarding the purchases of new equipment
- Demonstrates the use of equipment within the lab
- Provides teaching assistance to new lab instructor during laboratory sessions
- Assists in the development and maintenance of teaching materials
- Supports teachers and students in the design, planning and execution of student projects as required
- Contributes to the development of the Lab by observing and implementing Institution and system-wide policies and procedures, and by participating in extra-curricular activities and community events
- Travels to other colleges/Institution to attend meetings, workshops and conferences as required
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Who Are We Looking For
- Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Science (Preferably in Biological Science)
- Candidate with experience will be given preference.
