Position: Azure Databricks Engineer (On-site, India)

About the Opportunity

We are hiring on behalf of a client seeking an experienced Azure Databricks Engineer to build and operate production-grade data platforms. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering, cloud infrastructure, and analytics—delivering scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, performant analytics layers, and robust data governance using Azure-native tooling and Databricks.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimise end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines on Azure Databricks using PySpark and Delta Lake to support analytics and ML use-cases.
  • Implement scalable data ingestion patterns from batch and streaming sources, and integrate with Azure Data Factory, ADLS Gen2, and event streams.
  • Tune Spark jobs, manage cluster configurations, and drive cost-performance optimizations for production workloads.
  • Develop Databricks SQL models, notebooks, and CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment, testing, and versioning of data artifacts.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and platform teams to operationalise ML training/inference and ensure data quality, lineage, and governance.
  • Create monitoring, observability, and runbook procedures for job failures, SLAs, and performance alerts.
