We are seeking a skilled and driven Software Intern - Automation to join our expanding team and contribute to the success of our eVTOL program.

About The Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer – Test Systems Development with a strong foundation in test automation using the National Instruments (NI) ecosystem, including LabVIEW, VeriStand, and TestStand, as well as programming proficiency in C/C++ and Python. This role will focus on developing robust, scalable, and high-performance test systems for validating embedded hardware and software platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automated test systems using NI tools such as LabVIEW, VeriStand, and TestStand.
• Develop custom test applications for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) environments.
• Configure and maintain VeriStand real-time test environments, including integration with Simulink models and hardware components.
• Write and maintain software modules in Python and C/C++ to interface with instrumentation, automation frameworks, and embedded systems.
• Interface with hardware components such as NI PXI systems, cRIO, DAQs, and other industrial I/O hardware.
• Support integration and troubleshooting of test systems involving embedded controllers, sensors, and communication interfaces.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, embedded, systems) to define test requirements and coverage strategies.
• Develop and maintain documentation including test specifications, software architecture, and user manuals.
• Participate in code reviews and follow best practices for version control, modular design, and test-driven development.

Required Qualifications

• 4-7 years of hands-on experience developing test systems using NI tools (LabVIEW, VeriStand, TestStand).
• Strong programming skills in Python and C/C++.
• Proficiency with LabVIEW (preferably at CLD or higher level).
• Experience with VeriStand real-time test systems for HIL testing.
• Working knowledge of hardware integration, including DAQ, PXI, FPGA, and real-time controllers.
• Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet, RS-232/485, and others.

Preferred Skills (Nice To Have)

• NI Certifications (e.g., CLD, CLA, Certified VeriStand Developer).
• Experience using Python for test automation, data parsing, or integrating with external systems.
• Development experience in C/C++ for embedded or test applications.
• Experience with TestStand for test sequence management and report generation.
• Familiarity with model-based testing (e.g., Simulink, FMUs, or co-simulation tools).
• Version control tools such as Git, SVN, or Perforce.
• Exposure to CI/CD practices in a test environment (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo).
