Legal Counsel

We are looking for a legal counsel to lead our legal function.

We believe that Indian cryptolaw will be shaped by young, ambitious, and crypto-native lawyers who (i) gain expertise through direct exposure to cutting-edge crypto law work, and (ii) can intensively leverage AI in their work.

Indicative Responsibilities

• Conduct legal due diligence of crypto projects.
• Draft and negotiate transaction documents for equity and token investments into crypto projects.
• Provide legal advise and assistance to Hashed Emergent's portfolio companies (both on routine matters as well as strategic matters such as token launches).
• Lead the legal workstream for fund formation such as setting up investment managers, setting up funds & project funds, structuring carry arrangements, assisting limited partners in legal due diligence, and negotiating investment documentation with limited partners.
• Assisting in fund administration and fund compliance activities for Hashed Emergent.
• Lead the legal workstream for both routine corporate legal work (for example NDAs, employment agreements etc.) and high-impact strategic matters for the Hashed Emergent group entities (for example, studying and selecting a jurisdiction for our next fund).
• Research and publish thought leadership content on emerging trends in crypto law.
• Draft the legal, tax & regulatory chapter of Hashed Emergent's annual India Web3 Landscape Report.
• Support in the Hashed Emergent group's ad hoc projects as needed, such as legal support for India Blockchain Week, or drafting and negotiating contracts for Hashed Emergent's group companies W2 (an India GTM provider for crypto projects) and ECC (talent agency for Indian talent in the crypto space).
• Support Hashed Emergent's investment team in investor relations and fundraising work, if required.
• Support the Hashed Emergent team in executing India Blockchain Week, if required.
• Lead ad hoc policy activities in the crypto space for Hashed Emergent.
• Assist ECC in providing legal services to clients in the crypto space, typically for fundraising and token launches.

Requirements

• BA-LLB or LLB from a reputed Indian university.
• At least 2 years of experience in transactional work, particularly in equity fundraising, at an Indian law firm.
• Prior experience working on crypto fundraising deals.
• Strong passion for using & exploring blockchain technology (such as trading cryptocurrencies, using crypto protocols, partaking in key crypto communities etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to self-start and work independently, take end-to-end ownership of legal projects, and contribute to cross-functional teams.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-transparency, and high-pressure work environment.
• Experience working with (or strong commitment to leverage) AI tools for driving legal process efficiency in Hashed Emergent.
