Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on HVAC Engineer to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot existing systems including VRF, AHU, Ductable, Cassette, and Hi-wall Split AC units. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring continuous operation with zero downtime, executing complete mechanical and electrical maintenance, and optimizing system performance for energy efficiency and reliability.
This position is ideal for an engineer with strong technical background, extensive field experience, and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain VRF systems, AHUs, FCUs, Split Units, and Ductable/Cassette ACs for uninterrupted performance.
- Implement preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance programs to minimize failures and extend equipment life.
- Conduct brazing, nitrogen purging, pressure testing, vacuuming, and refrigerant gas charging with technical precision.
- Perform filter cleaning/replacement, coil washing (chemical/pressure), blower overhauling, and drain line servicing.
- Identify and rectify mechanical issues such as compressor failures, expansion valve malfunction, or refrigerant leaks.
- Diagnose electrical faults related to PCB boards, sensors, contactors, relays, capacitors, motor windings, and terminal connections.
- Calibrate and set temperature controllers, thermostats, and pressure switches to specified limits.
- Inspect and maintain belts, bearings, pulleys, motors, and vibration isolations to ensure mechanical balance.
- Manage BMS interfacing, AHU control signal verification, and sequence of operation testing.
- Maintain accurate service logs, refrigerant records, and maintenance reports.
- Analyze equipment performance data to identify efficiency gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, ISHRAE, and safety regulations, including proper refrigerant recovery and disposal.
- Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, and facility management teams for integrated system reliability.
- Plan and execute annual maintenance schedules (AMC) and maintain inventory of critical spare parts.
- Provide technical guidance to junior staff, ensuring consistent quality standards in maintenance execution.
Qualifications and Core Skills
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, HVAC, or Refrigeration Engineering.
- 510 years of field experience in HVAC service and maintenance of VRF, AHU, and Split systems.
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycle principles, superheat/subcooling adjustments, and system balancing.
- Skilled in brazing, gas charging, vacuum creation, leak testing, and refrigerant recovery.
- Good understanding of electrical wiring, control systems, and safety lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Proficient in using manifold gauges, clamp meters, vacuum pumps, leak detectors, digital thermometers, and anemometers.
- Familiar with EC fans, inverter technology, DC compressors, and PCB troubleshooting.
- Experienced in duct inspection, damper adjustment, static pressure balancing, and airflow measurement.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred
- Certification in VRF system service, F-gas handling, or energy efficiency compliance.
- Experience in critical sites such as hospitals, data centers, pharmaceutical, or clean-room facilities requiring 24/7 uptime.
- Knowledge of chiller systems, cooling tower maintenance, and pumping systems will be an added advantage.
