Associate Director, Medical Insights and Analytics

The Associate Director for Medical Analytics is a strategic leader responsible for driving impactful analytics that enhance decision-making across Medical functions. This role involves designing and overseeing large-scale analytics frameworks, collaborating with senior stakeholders, advising on data-driven medical strategies, and managing dynamic teams to deliver innovative solutions. The Associate Director also leads the integration of digital analytics to optimize medical engagement, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment, while championing the governance and accessibility of high-quality data assets.

About the Role:
The lead Medical I&A enables transformation of Novartis US Medical strategies by bridging insights and capabilities from IDS with business needs. The role will collaborate extensively with the US IDS counterparts to deliver insights and recommendations that aligns with organizational needs. The role will also partner with other IDS departments, integrating broader capabilities and deep medical expertise, to develop innovative solutions, robust action plans and strategic recommendations for the Medical function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the integrated insights team in Hyderabad to support data-driven decision-making for medical teams.
- Partner with IDS counterparts and the Medical leadership to understand long-term vision, and help translate the same into strategic action plan, detailing potential challenges, opportunities and analytics requirements.
- Collaborate closely with other IDS departments and activate capabilities – Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, AI Insights generation, knowledge activation, etc, to address analytical needs.
- Collaborate closely with the Medical team leadership to review, refine and sharpen analyses plans, recommendations and execution plan.
- Collaborate closely with IDS Int. Field I&A department to communicate broader Medical enterprise strategy and help translate into field GTM and deployment planning.
- Collaborate with Enterprise and Pipeline I&A lead in enabling prioritization of IDS efforts across TAs, and on priority Medical team requirements.
- Lead efforts to upskill, mentor, and support the professional growth of the team members, ensuring their sustained development and alignment with organizational goals.
- Lead a team of experts in Hyderabad and drive hiring, onboarding, and coaching team members to build a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Oversee performance management, including objective setting, regular check-ins, year-end appraisals, and career planning, leveraging GLINT metrics & feedback
- Lead efforts to upskill, mentor, and support the professional growth of the team members, ensuring their sustained development and alignment with organizational goals
Essential Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, with a strong focus on analytics and insights, scientific engagement strategy, business reporting, and strategic planning.
- 5+ years of domain expertise in these areas are highly desired: marketing strategy, medical affairs or other related analytics, primary market research and field GTM strategy and deployment planning.
- 7+ years of people management experience. Proven track record of enabling data-driven decision-making at a senior leadership level.
- Strong understanding of medical strategy, scientific exchange, and real-world evidence (RWE) generation in a pharmaceutical or biotech setting
- Strong analytical background, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and aligning them with business priorities to drive impactful results.
- Bachelor's degree in related field is required; Master of Science and/or MBA strongly preferred
- The ideal candidate must have experience working in pharmaceutical landscape, with experience in Medical analytics and strategic planning.
- The role requires a leader who fosters collaboration across IDS teams and drives a culture of innovation.
