What You'll Be Doing...
The engineer would wholly be responsible for the maintenance and operations of the Verizon POP. The engineer would be responsible for installing and maintaining managed network elements like router, switches, SD-WANs, firewalls etc. Below are some of the roles and responsibilities of the engineer.

• Configuring and troubleshooting a variety of network elements, such as routers, switches, and multiplexers in the Verizon POP.
• Working with PTT to test and implement backbone circuits
• Isolating and resolving customer networks that connect to the Verizon POP.
• Collaborating with multiple stakeholders to ensure prompt circuit restoration of customer circuits as well as backbones.
• Testing WAN circuits during the delivery phase to guarantee seamless performance.
• Partnering with internal and external service delivery teams during circuit implementation and activation of customer circuits.
• Managing and configuring OTN networks between POP sites.
• Being available to travel to customer sites, outstation travel required, night work required during Vz POP site scheduled network maintenance and Support network Outage troubleshooting and resolution.

What We're Looking For...
You'll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree and two or more years of relevant work experience.
• TCP/IP Suite: Understanding of protocols like IP addressing (IPv4, IPv6), subnetting, DNS, DHCP.
• LAN/WAN Technologies: Proficiency in Ethernet/Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) including MPLS, EoSDH & Metro-ethernet.
• Routing & Switching: Knowledge of OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, RIP, experience in configuring layer 2 switches.
• Wireless Communication: Understanding of Wi-Fi networks & access points,
• Fiber Optics: Understanding of fiber optic communication, including connectors, wavelengths and modes.
• CCNA certification - Valid CCNA certification in Routing and Switching, or other relevant tracks.
• Network Hardware: Hands-on experience with routers, switches, and other networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).
• Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams for project delivery and implementation.
• Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Customer Service : Understanding and addressing customer needs to ensure high service quality.
• Adaptability & Attitude: The telecom and networking industries evolve rapidly, an attitude of being open to learning new technologies and tools is crucial.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• CCNP certification - Valid CCNP certification in Routing and Switching, Security, or other relevant tracks.
• Network Security: Familiarity with firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Juniper), VPNs (GRE, IPSEC), intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and network security best practices.
• Wireless Communication: Understanding of Wi-Fi networks & access points.
• Network Monitoring Tools: Experience with tools like Ethernet testers, optical power meters , Wireshark
• Basics Linux/Unix commands
