Description :

A Basis Consultant typically works with SAP Basis, which involves managing and configuring SAP systems, databases, and environments.

The Key Result Areas(KRAs) for an experienced SAP Basis Consultant generally include the following :

System Installation and Configuration :

- Installation and configuration of SAP systems (S/4HANA etc.

- Managing and configuring application servers, database servers, and system landscape.

- Applying SAP kernel upgrades and support packages.

System Monitoring and Performance Tuning :

- Monitoring system performance using SAP tools.

- Identifying and resolving system bottlenecks.

- Configuring the SAP system for optimal performance and uptime.

Transport Management :

- Managing transport directories and system landscape for SAP transport management.

- Performing system integrations with non-SAP systems.

- Handling and troubleshooting transport issues.

User and Security Management :

- Configuring and managing SAP user roles, authorizations, and profiles.

- Ensuring proper user access control, compliance, and security standards.

- Managing system security patches and updates.

Backup and Disaster Recovery :

- Configuring and managing system backups (HANA backups, DB backups).

- Creating and testing disaster recovery plans.

- Ensuring data integrity and system recoverability.

System Upgrades and Patching :

- Applying service packs, patches, and upgrades to SAP systems.

- Managing SAP version upgrades, including performing system checks and testing.

- Coordinating downtime and ensuring minimal disruption during upgrades.

Database Administration :

- Managing SAP-supported databases S4HANA.

- Performing database backups, restores, and optimizing performance.

- Handling database migrations and upgrades.

Troubleshooting and Incident Management :

- Resolving technical issues and performance problems in SAP environments.

- Providing Level 2/3 support for SAP incidents and service requests.

- Collaborating with other technical teams to resolve cross-functional issues.

Client Interaction and Documentation :

- Engaging with clients to understand their technical requirements.

- Creating and maintaining documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.

- Providing technical guidance and training to clients and junior team members.

Compliance and Audit :

- Ensuring SAP systems comply with company standards, industry regulations, and security protocols.

- Participating in system audits and implementing corrective actions.

Landscape Management :

- Managing the SAP system landscape (Development, Testing, Production environments).

- Ensuring environment stability and managing SAP instances.
