Responsible for setting up and operating Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines as per production requirements, ensuring components meet drawing specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate VMC machines (Fanuc / Siemens / Mitsubishi controller-based).
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, tool layouts, and machining instructions.
  • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
  • Prepare and load CNC programs, make necessary offsets and adjustments to achieve accurate dimensions.
  • Conduct first piece inspection and ensure dimensional accuracy using measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, etc.).
  • Monitor machining operations and optimize cutting parameters for productivity and tool life.
  • Handle tool wear, tool change, and machine maintenance activities.
  • Maintain records of production, tool usage, and inspection reports.
  • Ensure adherence to safety norms, housekeeping, and 5S practices.
  • Collaborate with quality and design teams for process improvements.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Hands-on experience in VMC machine setup and operation.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming basics (Fanuc / Siemens / Mitsubishi).
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, speeds, and feeds.
  • Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings and using precision measuring tools.
  • Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in shifts and meet production targets.

Education Qualification:

  • ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering.

Preferred Background:

  • 5+ years of experience as a VMC Setter in a precision machining or manufacturing company (pump, automotive, or tool room industry preferred).
