Your key responsibilities

  • Lead oversight and monitoring of the monthly Group & UK Operational Risk (OR) Risk Appetite for Governance the process (including the monthly Operational Risk Committees, Group Risk Committee, Risk Capital Profile and quarterly Supervisory Board Risk Committee materials), working with 1LoD and 2LoD stakeholders.
  • Support the development of OR Appetite framework and tooling, including the development of Qualitative Risk Appetite statements, Quantitative metrics and Operating Conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with BCBS239/RDARR requirements by supporting robust risk data aggregation and reporting processes, contributing to the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of risk information provided to senior management and regulators.
  • Assist the Operational Risk Committee secretary to successfully discharge their secretarial duties in line with the committee's terms of reference, including but not limited to coordinating prep meeting with the committee chair, maintenance of actions log, retention of all key committee documents and usage of relevant governance tools.
  • Collaborate with the wider Group OR Portfolio Risk Management teams to produce senior management materials, presentation preparation and content development as required.
  • Manage a small team to support you in meeting the ORM group risk appetite and governance requirements.

Your skills and experience

  • Understanding of Operational Risk Management principles and practices with relevant experience gained in first line risk & control role, second line risk function or Audit.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills and a desire to work collaboratively to facilitate successful risk management within the 3 lines of defense (3LoD) model.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills (verbal/written) and ability to distil complex content into simple messaging to senior audiences.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in handling multiple tasks, excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent team player with strong work ethics, combined with a strategic and proactive work approach, able to motivate others and work independently.
  • Familiar with all MS Office products
