Job Title: Data Engineer

Location - Remote

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to support the design, execution, and optimization of a large-scale data migration project. The role focuses on extracting, transforming, cleaning, and preparing data for seamless migration across multiple systems, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity. This position requires a deep understanding of data architecture, ETL pipelines, SQL optimization, and data quality management, along with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams to ensure successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Primary tasks:

  • Data Extraction and Source Analysis: Identify and document data sources, extraction using ETL tools (preferrably Talend), validate extracted data.
  • Data Transformation and Mapping: Map and align data fields from source systems to target system structures, apply business rules and transform data to ensure compatibility with target system (Salesforce), normalize dataset and eliminate redundancies.
  • Data Cleanup and QA: Identify and resolve duplicates, inconsistencies in the source dataset, standardize formats, and provide reports on data integrity.
  • Data Migration and Load Execution: Ability to execute SQL scripts and utilize migration tools to load cleaned data into the target environment.

Secondary Tasks:

  • Ability to work with the business and technical teams to incorporate a phased data migration approach.
  • Validate successful data loads and coordinate with the QA and business teams for review and approval.
  • Track data migration issues, perform root cause analysis, and propose corrective actions.
  • Documentation, Reporting, and Support: Deliver comprehensive documentation of extraction, transformation, cleanup, and upload processes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or database management.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and ETL tools (e.g., Talend, Alteryx Informatica, or equivalent).
  • Experience with data migration across CRM, or association management systems.
  • Experience with Salesforce data migration projects is required.
  • Familiarity with data quality frameworks, deduplication methods, and normalization techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with Salesforce, Talend/Alteryx/Informatica, handling large and complex relational databases.
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL or other scripting languages for data cleaning, automation, etc.
  • Experience with big data architecture and tools (Hadoop, Spark) is an asset.
