Role Description

This is a part-time on-site role for a German Teacher at Wellington College International School Pune in Pune. The German Teacher will be responsible for teaching, tutoring, training, and general education tasks associated with teaching the German language to pupils.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver
    engaging and effective lessons in accordance with the school's curriculum (e.g., IB, IGCSE, or national framework).
  • Teach German as a foreign or second language
    to students across various grade levels and abilities.
  • Develop and implement assessments
    to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Promote cultural awareness
    through integration of German traditions, history, and contemporary topics in the classroom.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
    that fosters curiosity, respect, and active participation.
  • Differentiate instruction
    to accommodate diverse learning needs and language levels.
  • Collaborate with colleagues
    across departments to support cross-curricular initiatives and language learning consistency.
  • Communicate regularly with parents
    regarding student progress and learning goals.
  • Contribute to school life
    through extracurricular activities such as German clubs, language competitions, or cultural events.
  • Stay current
    with developments in language pedagogy and educational technology.

Required Qualifications / Skills

  • A relevant degree (BA / MA) and professional teaching qualification.
  • Recent teaching experience of GCSE/IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
  • A passion for German and the ability to share this with a wide range of students.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and an interest in current developments in German curricula.
  • Strong organisational, self-management and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong command over German and English language.

Desirable Qualifications/ Skills

  • Experience teaching the Cambridge International Examinations IGCSE German Language.
  • Experience of working in a boarding school system, either in the UK or internationally.
