Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Metallurgy Engineer to support material development, quality assurance, and failure analysis within our automotive manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with metals and alloys used in vehicle components and will contribute to improving material performance, reducing costs, and supporting production needs.

Key Requirements:

  • Good experience in Furnace brazing, welding and heat treatment process.
  • Good experience in material analysis and problem solving in failure analysis
  • Experience with welding metallurgy and surface treatments (e.g., coating, carburizing, nitriding).
  • Knowledge of casting, forging, or stamping processes.
  • Exposure to sustainability initiatives related to materials (lightweighting, recycling).
  • Evaluate and select materials (ferrous and non-ferrous) for automotive components based on performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Develop and optimize heat treatment processes to ensure material properties meet design requirements.
  • Conduct metallurgical failure analysis and root cause investigations for warranty claims or production defects.
  • Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to support new product launches and resolve material-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., SAE, ASTM, ISO, IATF
  • Perform microstructural analysis, hardness testing, and other metallurgical evaluations using tools such as SEM, EDS, and optical microscopy.
  • Assist in supplier development and audits related to metallurgical processes and material quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement in materials performance and processing efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in metallurgical engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in a metallurgy/materials role, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of Stainless Steel, Steel, aluminium, and advanced high-strength alloys used in automotive applications.
  • Familiarity with automotive standards and quality systems (PPAP, APQP, FMEA, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in metallurgical laboratory techniques and software tools.
