Job Title: Associate – Indirect Taxation

Location: Goregaon

Reporting to: Manager / Senior Manager – Indirect Tax

Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA Qualified)

Experience: 2–4 years post-qualification experience in Indirect Taxation (preferred)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CA Qualified Associate to join our Indirect Taxation team. The role involves assisting in compliance, advisory, and litigation matters related to GST, Customs, and other indirect taxes for a diverse portfolio of clients or business units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • GST Compliance:
  • Preparation and review of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9/9C)
  • Reconciliation of GST data with books of accounts
  • Ensure timely filing of returns and other GST-related compliances
  • Advisory & Research:
  • Conduct tax research on indirect tax matters including GST, Customs, FTP
  • Assist in drafting opinions, memos, and client deliverables on indirect tax queries
  • Analyze tax implications on business transactions and provide advisory support
  • Litigation Support:
  • Prepare submissions and supporting documents for departmental audits, assessments, and appeals
  • Coordinate with legal counsel for representations at tax forums
  • Client / Stakeholder Interaction:
  • Support in handling client communications and queries
  • Work closely with internal teams such as accounting, finance, and legal
  • Process Improvement:
  • Assist in streamlining tax processes and identifying areas for automation
  • Monitor regulatory updates and ensure business readiness for compliance

Key Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding of GST laws and indirect tax regulations in India
  • Good command of MS Excel and working knowledge of accounting ERP (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and stakeholders

Preferred Experience:

  • Articleship or post-qualification experience in a tax consultancy firm or corporate tax department
  • Exposure to GST audits, departmental inquiries, and drafting replies
  • Knowledge of Customs, Excise, and FTP regulations is a plus
