NPD Tool Room Manager

Location - Jigani, Bangalore

The New Development Manager will be responsible for managing the end to end development and industrialization of new stamped components for automotive OEM Programs. This include die development, tooling validation, pilot production,and ensuring readiness for serial production within the press shop. The role involves close coordination with cross functional teams including Product Engineering,Tooling Vendors, Quality,Manufacturing, and OEM Counterparts.

Responsibilities:

1, Project & Program Management

Lead & Manage new part development project from RFQ to SOP.

Track project timelines,cost,and quality deliverables in line APQP and customer milestones.

Conduct regular project reviews and report status to internal and external stakeholders,

2. Tooling & Die Management

Oversea design,development,tryout,and commissioning of press tools.

Coordinate with internal die engineers and external tooling suppliers.

Manage tool validation (initial samples, tool life, corrective actions, etc)

3, Part Development & Validation

Support first part approval (PPAP, PSW) and coordinate with quality & CMM teams.

Lead feasibility and formability studies with simulation teams (eg AutoForm).

Plan and execute pilot production runs and dimensional validations.

4. Process Engineering & Optimization

Define stamping process parameters and material specs for new parts.

Ensure capability studies (CP , CPK), process flowcharts, and control plans ate in place.

  1. Customer & Supplier Coordination

Interface with OEM for part approval, engineering changes, and launch support.

Manage development timelines and deliverable with die and euipment suppliers.

6. Team Management & Leadership

Lead a team of development engineers and tool tryout technicians.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement,technical excellence, and proactive problem solving.

Qualifications :

BE / B Tech in Mechanical / Automobile / Production Engineering.

8 -12 yrs of experience in tool & Die Development, Press Shop. or automotive part development.

Prior Exp in Tier 1 automotive manufacturing )preferably Stamping / Metal Parts)

Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, GD&T, and IATF 16949 standards.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Strong understanding of stamping processes & Progressive / transfer dies.

Proficient in project management tools (MS Project, Gantt charts)

Experience with CAD software (Catia / UG/NX), AutoForm Preferred

Ability to work under pressure with cross functional teams.

Experience in automation or servo Press environments.
