Roles & Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Indirect Taxation in leading the indirect taxation function for the copper business, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations, and assist in developing and implementing tax strategies that align with business objectives and optimize tax efficiency.
• Oversee the preparation and filing of indirect tax returns, including GST, VAT, and other applicable taxes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to avoid penalties and interest, while monitoring changes in tax legislation and assessing their impact on the business. Lead custom activities of imports and exports for copper business, ensuring duty benefits.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to address tax-related issues and opportunities, providing guidance and support to the finance and accounting teams on indirect tax matters, and conducting regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Manage relationships with tax authorities, responding to inquiries and audits in a timely and effective manner, assisting in the negotiation and resolution of tax disputes, and implementing digital tools and technologies to streamline tax processes, improve data accuracy, and enhance decision-making.
• Develop and execute strategies to control tax costs and ensure timely compliance with all tax obligations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in the tax function, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ensure all tax activities adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct and governance, supporting the overall integrity of the tax function.
• Work in alignment with the business's goals and targets, ensuring that tax strategies and operations support the broader objectives of the organization.
• Implement automation solutions to streamline tax processes, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance.
• Manage and develop the tax team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, and ensuring continuous professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 to 6 years of experience in indirect taxation within the manufacturing or metals industry, with a significant focus on copper production. This includes comprehensive knowledge of GST, VAT, and other relevant tax regulations, as well as experience in managing tax compliance, audits, and disputes.
• First attempt Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in indirect taxation within the manufacturing or metals industry, focusing on copper production.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to drive change and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability within the tax function.
