We're looking for people who are upbeat and enthusiastic about IT, data management, and our company to help us guard the company's data The Senior Storage Operations Engineer will be focused on the operations, capacity planning and business partner communications. This job will interface directly with Engineering partners, the other IT teams supporting them (Application, DBA, Network, Security), and our company-wide server & storage groups to ensure requirements are met and standards are followed. This person will be an escalationon point for Engineering storage issues. This position is at the nexus of our fast-paced chip design business and the company's large and growing storage environment. Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must have strong communication skills, and be able to work effectively in a team environment. He/she must also be able to interact equally with the technical and non-technical peers, management and customers. The candidate must provide excellent customer service and demonstrate initiative. They should have a strong sense of ownership and enjoy problem solving opportunities. They should be able to contribute to the development of innovative ideas and applications. Minimum of 5 years hands on experience managing enterprise systems, servers, and storage (HP, Oracle/Sun Solaris, VMware, NetApp and Oracle ZFS preferred) for a large scale IT infrastructure environment supporting a large user community Should have experience in supporting large environments. Preferred Qualifications Preferred intermediate Linux skills (2-3 years ) Experience of managing NAS/NetApp environment highly desirable Experience with NetBackup and AFS is a plus Experience and Knowledge in multiple Windows, UNIX and/or Linux operating systems highly desirable Working knowledge on NetApp Cluster Mode a plus Knowledge of virtualization technologies desirable Familiarity with Job Schedulers such as IBM Platform LSF and Sun Grid Engine a plus This job will work primarily on our NAS storage environments with responsibilities including: - Troubleshoot performance and availability issues as they arise - Storage Capacity Planning Work closely with the storage build and operational teams Work with key business partners to gather requirements and insure their services are fully protected Design of new storage arrays per customer requirement and IT standards Provision Engineering storage to customers Handle permissions and data access requests, troubleshoot related issues Ensure storage hardware failures are handled in a timely fashion - Handle unplanned storage outages for rapid service-restoration with solid communications to customers and management Ensure data is protected via on-line and off-line backups & snapshots Be a vigilant steward of data integrity and availability, handling both tactical issues and suggesting strategies to improve these areas Provide regular reports to management on health of global storage environment Research new technologies that add functionality to the storage environment Education: Bachelor's, Information Technology or equivalent experience
