Role Description

Are you a
seasoned copyeditor
who loves the idea of combining editorial excellence with technology innovation? TNQ Tech's R&D team is looking for someone who can bridge
editorial expertise and automation
— helping us redefine how copyediting tools evolve for the publishing world.

Job description:

• Define and provide
  editorial inputs and requirements
  for the development and enhancement of the copyediting tool.
• Extract and translate copyediting rules
  from major style guides (APA, AMA, CMS, CSE, ACS, etc.) and publisher-specific guidelines into actionable specifications for automation.
• Design and maintain
  comprehensive test suites
  to evaluate the performance and accuracy of the copyediting tool.
• Analyze tool outputs
  , identify strengths and gaps, and prepare structured reports with key insights and recommendations.
• Own and manage assigned project modules
  , ensuring timely delivery, tracking progress, and presenting
  weekly updates
  to stakeholders.

Candidate profile:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in copyediting
  scholarly Books/Journals for reputed
  STM publishers
  .
• Demonstrated ability to perform
  high- and medium-level copyediting
  of STM journal articles independently, strictly adhering to journal and publisher requirements.
• Proven track record of ensuring
  mechanical editing
  and applying
  basic grammar corrections
  .
• Awareness and practical application of some of the
  major style guides
  (e.g.,
  APA, AMA, CMS, CSE, ACS
  ) and publisher-specific style sheets.
• Consistently delivered
  error-free, high-quality outputs
  within required turnaround times.
• Experienced in
  reviewing and quality-checking
  the work of trainees and peers, providing
  constructive feedback
  to improve copyediting standards.
• Ability to
  mentor and guide team members
  to enhance quality and productivity.
• Exposure to
  XML-first workflows
  and ability to work comfortably with structured editing environments.
• Good command of
  English language (verbal and written)
  , keen eye for detail, and strong proficiency in
  Microsoft Word and XML tools
  .
• Enthusiastic learner with a
  passion for reading and continuous learning
  .
• Optional but advantageous:
  Basic awareness of
  AI/ML
• Should be willing to work from our Chennai office, 5 days a week.
