The Role

Computer Operators at Kyndryl are key in helping revolutionize the way we operate complex computer systems. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, supervise and control intricate networks and applications, and operate distributed systems in a multi-vendor environment.

As a Computer Operator you will be on the technical frontline – performing console & batch operations as per service agreements, analyzing first-level issues across systems, and resolving/routing issues as appropriate. You will also have the opportunity to develop support system management processes specific to customer requirements, ensuring that we provide the highest level of service to our customers.

Job Summary:

• Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of IBMi(AS/400) systems, ensuring high availability, performance and reliability of critical business applications.
• Responsible for system monitoring, job scheduling, backups, troubleshooting and user support.
• Create, manage and monitor scheduled jobs using tools like Robot, Advanced and Native schedulers.
• Troubleshoot and restart failed jobs, ensuring they complete successfully.
• Monitor batch process, automate job streams and provide daily operational support.
• Maintain system and device health for high volume printers, tape drives.
• Perform and manage backups.
• Analyse logs and conduct root cause analysis of recurring problems.
• Develop training materials and provide guidance to junior staff or cross functional teams.
• Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual interventions.
• Conduct audits and manage compliance with SOX or other regulatory frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Job Description

Monitors, controls and operates complex computer systems, networks, applications and/or distributed systems in a multi-vendor environment. Performs batch operations where and when required (according to service agreements). Analyzes first level problems for all systems (according to service agreements) and resolves/routes as appropriate. Develops Supporting Systems Management Processes specific to client requirements and performs I/O (tape and print) duties where appropriate.

Required Skills:

• 3+ years of experience in IBMi/AS400 Operations.
• In-depth knowledge of IBMi (AS/400) systems including system architecture, LPAR (Logical Partitioning) and OS versions.
• Ready to work in 24/7 rotational shifts.
• Troubleshooting and technical experience related to IBM i.
• Perform IPL's and good knowledge in disaster recovery planning and execution.
• Expertise in handing transitions.
• Must be able to run jobs from established run sheets and maintain those run sheets
• Knowledge on basic trouble shooting of Mimix, Power HA, iTera.
  Knowledge of backup and recovery tools.
