Senior Linux Administrator

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Linux Administrator with a strong background in both traditional Data Center and Cloud (AWS) environments, specifically within the demanding Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector. The ideal candidate will have 6-7 years of hands-on experience managing and maintaining critical RHEL infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance.

Role & responsibilities

RHEL/Data Center Administration

• RHEL Administration: Provide expert-level administration, configuration, and troubleshooting for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems (versions 7.x and 8.x).
• High Availability & Clustering: Design, implement, and maintain Red Hat Cluster Management and High Availability (HA) Cluster solutions to ensure maximum uptime for critical BFSI applications.
• Patch & Lifecycle Management: Manage and administer Red Hat Satellite Server for efficient Patch Management and system Lifecycle Management.
• System Maintenance: Perform routine Kernel and Package Updates and manage software repositories using YUM / DNF Repository Management.
• Upgrade & Migration: Lead RHEL OS Upgrade / Migration projects (e.g., 7.x to 8.x) with minimal disruption.
• Troubleshooting: Conduct advanced Log Analysis and Troubleshooting to quickly resolve complex system issues.
• Performance: Implement Performance Monitoring and Tuning strategies to optimize system resource utilization.

Security & Compliance

• Vulnerability Remediation: Conduct Vulnerability Assessment (VA) and implement Security Patching and Vulnerability Remediation.
• Hardening & Compliance: Enforce rigorous System Hardening & Compliance standards, adhering strictly to industry benchmarks like CIS and STIG guidelines, critical for the BFSI sector.
• Subscription Management: Manage and maintain Red Hat Subscription Management (RHSM).
• Security Policies: Manage SELinux configurations and ensure adherence to security best practices.

Cloud (AWS) Expertise

• AWS Infrastructure: Handle user management, process monitoring, system tuning, and troubleshooting on Amazon Linux and RHEL distributions within AWS EC2 environments.
• AMI Management: Develop and maintain Golden AMI Creation workflows, including implementing OS Hardening using CIS Benchmarks and Compliance standards within the AMI build process.
• Cloud Services: Utilize and manage AWS services, including CloudWatch for monitoring, SSM (Systems Manager) for system management, and EC2 systems AMI Snapshot for backup and recovery.
• SSM Patch Manager: Manage and automate system security updates through AWS SSM Patch Manager.
• Security: Implement and enforce IMDSV2 setup on AWS instances for enhanced security.

Automation & Scripting

• Automation: Drive operational efficiency through Automation using Ansible / Shell Scripting to streamline repetitive tasks, configuration management, and deployment.
• AWS CLI: Automate operational workflows via Bash or AWS CLI scripts.

Disaster Recovery

• DR Planning: Participate in planning and execution of Disaster Recovery (DR) Testing and Failover Validation to ensure business continuity.
• Storage: Manage and configure storage volumes using LVM Management.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Minimum 6-7 years of professional experience in Linux Administration, specifically with RHEL.
• Proven experience working within the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) sector is mandatory.
• Strong experience with Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, and Shell Scripting.
• In-depth knowledge of AWS services (EC2, SSM, CloudWatch, S3, IAM, etc.) and cloud-based operating system management.
• Expert-level understanding of security hardening standards (CIS/STIG) and vulnerability remediation processes.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate) are highly desirable
