In the Researcher role, you will find yourself supporting the team in client discussions to solve complex business problems, analyze key issues, and develop effective solutions.
The Opportunity

As a Researcher with the Energy vertical, you will gain exposure working on real-world projects, solving complex issues for the clients. You will be presented with the opportunity to connect and collaborate across our global network of Knowledge Analysts along with our Industries and Service Lines business network to further strengthen the quality of your insights. Our Researchers work closely with the Energy Consultant/Sr. Consultants/Managers to support client and other senior stakeholders, providing thought-provoking insights to help Kline's clients proactively identify new business opportunities and risks. Over time, you will develop expertise in a specific area and drive research and development of new knowledge as well as contribute to broader knowledge development and proprietary assets. Additionally, you will contribute as an active member of the global energy community and develop relationships around the globe to build on your knowledge and provide support to the broader network as needed.
Key Aspects Of This Role Include
- Contributing to delivery of strategic and complex projects, often working virtually across teams in different geographies.
- Working on industry and sector forecasting reports, staying current on relevant issues, and developing insights on trends in an easy to understand and useful format by undertaking research to identify relevant market changes.
- Build strong analysis and insights, utilizing secondary and primary research methodologies.
- Collaborates with colleagues to proactively alert stakeholders regarding changes among key clients and competitors and assesses the impact of those changes on internal strategies and plans.
- Understand the mechanics of the energy market (wholesale energy markets), be able to quantify the trends impacting the industry, and provide information that can aid commercial decisions.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemistry, or related sciences, Economics, or Business and applicable relevant work experience can also be considered
- Minimum 2 years of experience in strategy, business analysis, market research, management consulting or business performance, advising organizations.
- Prior experience of conducting comprehensive secondary (public and paid databases) and primary research on various industries, macro developments and regions.
- Possess strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills, combined with a strong business acumen.
- Possess an inquisitive mindset and have excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient in English with well-structured oral and written communications skills; able to explain difficult concepts in a clear, concise, and graphic-rich style, using appropriate analytics and visualization tools.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional Suite, especially Excel and Powerpoint is absolutely essential.
- Familiarity and previous experience of working with any types of Information systems (like Bloomberg, Reuters, S&P, FactSet, etc.) and Customs trade data will be a plus.
- Knowledge of data analytics / visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc. and statistical (including forecasting) techniques such as PCA, regression, cluster analysis, etc. would be a plus
