Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Release Management Lead to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of software releases across multiple teams and environments. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, deep understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), and hands-on experience with release management tools and CI/CD pipelines. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth and timely software deployments while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the release planning process across all environments (Non-production and Production).
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, QA, Development teams to ensure readiness and alignment for releases.
  • Maintain and manage the release calendar, coordinating releases across various projects and teams.
  • Define and enforce release policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Oversee the build, package, deployment, and rollback processes.
  • Ensure all change management and governance requirements are followed.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to release schedules, and manage post-release reviews and reporting.
  • Continuously improve release management practices by implementing automation and modern DevOps techniques.
  • Act as a key point of contact for all release-related matters.
  • Maintain documentation for release processes, schedules, and post-mortems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in IT, with 3+ years in Release or Configuration Management.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, Bamboo, Urbancode Deploy, Ansible).
  • Experience on IBM Urbancode deploy (UCD) is a plus.
  • Automation and scripting experience with knowledge of at least one scripting language.
  • Experience with version control systems like SVN, Git and release automation tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like JIRA, Confluence.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices and change management processes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and coordinate complex releases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deployment experience in cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and on-prem environments.
  • Deployment experience on middleware application servers like weblogic, tomcat, IIS and microservice based applications and environments.
  • Release experience in microservices and container-based environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • ITIL Certification or Scrum/Agile certification (CSM, SAFe, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with monitoring tools.
