Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced L3 GCP Engineer to provide advanced technical support and operational excellence for GCP-based applications and infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for handling high-priority incidents, conducting deep root cause analysis, automating recurring issues, and ensuring system reliability and performance across GCP services.

Key Responsibilities

Incident & Problem Management

  • Act as the final escalation point (L3) for all GCP-related incidents and service requests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across compute, networking, storage, and application layers.
  • Perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with L1/L2 teams and development teams to resolve recurring issues and improve system stability.

Operations & Monitoring

  • Maintain and monitor GCP resources including Compute Engine, Kubernetes (GKE), Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Dataflow, etc.
  • Set up and optimize monitoring, alerting, and logging using tools like Cloud Monitoring, Logging, and Operations Suite (formerly Stackdriver).
  • Ensure system uptime, scalability, and performance within defined SLAs.

Automation & Scripting

  • Develop automation scripts using Python, Shell, or Terraform to streamline routine operational tasks.
  • Manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform or Deployment Manager.
  • Enhance operational efficiency by automating deployments, monitoring, and alert responses.

Deployment & Configuration Management

  • Support deployment pipelines using Cloud Build, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Participate in release management and validation for GCP workloads.
  • Review and implement configuration and change management best practices.

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure IAM policies, service accounts, and roles follow least privilege principles.
  • Support compliance audits and maintain adherence to organizational security standards.
  • Manage encryption, secrets, and access controls through Cloud KMS and Secret Manager.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Work closely with DevOps, Cloud Architects, and Application teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Create and maintain runbooks, knowledge base articles, and incident post-mortems.
  • Provide guidance and training to L1/L2 support teams.

Experience

  • Core GCP Services: Compute Engine, GKE (Kubernetes), Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer, VPC.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, KQL/Log-based metrics.
  • Automation & IaC: Terraform, Deployment Manager, Python, Shell scripting.
  • Networking: VPCs, subnets, load balancers, Cloud DNS, Cloud NAT, firewall rules, interconnects, peering.
  • Security: IAM, Service Accounts, VPC SC, KMS, Secret Manager, Organizational Policies.
  • CI/CD & DevOps Tools: Cloud Build, Jenkins, Git, GitHub Actions, Artifact Registry.
  • Operating Systems: Linux (preferred), Windows Server (basic understanding).
  • Database Knowledge: Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Firestore, Spanner (basic to intermediate).
  • Willingness to work in 24x7 rotational support environment
