Job PurposeTo efficiently manage, record, and safeguard all construction materials, tools, and equipment on-site, ensuring smooth operations by maintaining accurate inventory and proper issue/receipt processes.
- Key ResponsibilitiesMaterial Receipt & Verification
- Receive construction materials, tools, and consumables delivered to site.
- Check quantity, quality, and specifications against purchase orders and delivery challans.
- Report discrepancies or damages immediately to the Site Engineer/Project Manager.
- Inventory Management
- Maintain proper records of incoming and outgoing materials.
- Update stock register and/or ERP system daily.
- Ensure minimum stock levels for critical materials are maintained.
- Issuance of Materials
- Issue materials to engineers, supervisors, and workers as per approved requisitions.
- Maintain proper documentation (issue slips/material requisition notes).
- Storage & Preservation
- Store materials systematically for easy identification, retrieval, and safety.
- Ensure proper stacking to avoid damage, theft, or wastage.
- Maintain separate storage for cement, steel, consumables, tools, and safety equipment.
- Stock Control & Reporting
- Conduct periodic stock verification and physical audits.
- Reconcile physical stock with records.
- Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly stock reports to Project Manager/Head Office.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous materials (paints, chemicals, etc.).
- Follow safety procedures during loading/unloading.
- Keep store area clean, organized, and compliant with company/site policies.
- Coordination
- Liaise with purchase department for timely replenishment.
- Coordinate with site engineers for material planning.
- Report shortages or delays in supply proactively.
- Skills & CompetenciesKnowledge of construction materials (cement, steel, aggregates, shuttering, fittings, etc.).
- Familiarity with store management systems / ERP.
- Strong record-keeping and documentation skills.
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel, inventory software).
- Attention to detail and organizational ability.
