Reports To: Head – Strategy & Sports Valuations
Role:
Responsible for building and maintaining financial and data-driven models that assess the intrinsic and market value of sports assets. This includes franchises, leagues, athletes, sponsorships, intellectual property (IP), and emerging digital assets and media rights.
The role in sportsnomics combines financial modeling, econometrics, and sports analytics to support valuation, investment decisions, and strategic advisory for stakeholders across sports, media, and technology.
Responsibilities:
- Develop valuation models for sports franchises, athlete brand equity, media rights, and sponsorship portfolios using quantitative techniques.
- Conduct financial analysis of sports entities including revenue streams, player contracts, IP assets, and commercial rights.
- Apply stochastic modeling, regression analysis, Monte Carlo simulations, and scenario testing to quantify uncertainties in valuations.
- Build and maintain data pipelines integrating financial, performance, and audience datasets (broadcasting, social media, merchandising, etc.).
- Collaborate with strategy, legal, and IPR clients to align valuation metrics with evolving sports economics, IP frameworks, and digital trends.
- Support investor presentations, due diligence processes, and advisory reports with analytical insights.
- Monitor global sports M&A, team sales, and market benchmarks to refine valuation assumptions and discount rate models.
- Explore integration of machine learning models to forecast fan engagement, sponsorship ROI, and player performance metrics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, or Data Science is must.
- FRM or advanced analytics certifications preferred.
Skill Required:
- Proficiency in Python, R & SQL for quantitative modeling.
- Strong understanding of DCF, multiples-based valuation, and IP valuation frameworks.
- Experience with sports data APIs, econometrics, and data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of sports business models i.e., revenue sharing, salary caps, media rights, sponsorship economics.
Experience:
- 2+ years in valuation, investment research, quantitative finance, or sports analytics.
- Exposure to sports leagues, IP advisory, or entertainment finance is a strong plus.
