Principal I, IT Business Systems Analysis

This role is part of Alcon's Information Technology function, a team that delivers cutting-edge technology solutions to Alcon associates and customers to help our people and the world see brilliantly.The Principal I, IT Business Systems Analysis (Science/Tech/Engineering Path), is primarily responsible for leading the design and implementation of complex business systems, working with cross-functional teams to ensure technical solutions align with strategic business goals.

Specifics Include:

• Lead the design and implementation of large-scale IT systems that meet business objectives and are scalable for growth

• Act as the primary point of contact for business and IT teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to analysts and other project team members

• Ensure solutions are scalable, efficient, and align with long-term business strategies

• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems

• Lead high-impact IT systems analysis projects with significant business implications

• Make high-level decisions related to IT system design and architecture, ensuring systems are designed to meet future business needs

• Provide input on business strategy and align IT solutions with business goals

Key Requirements:

• System Implementation & Support
  • Lead configuration, deployment, and maintenance of IT platforms.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Support operations and ad-hoc requests and research
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems
• Project Management
  • Drive transportation-related IT projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including vendors, logistics, and IT operations.
  • Develop project estimates and complete financial mode (costs, savings, revenue opportunities)
• Integration & Data Flow
  • Ensure seamless data exchange between TMS, ERP, and external systems.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data flow issues, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Process Optimization
  • Identify opportunities to improve transportation workflows and system performance.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to increase automation and reduce manual effort.
• Vendor Collaboration
  • Serve as the liaison between vendor and Alcon team.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service-level agreements.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Successful implementation and upgrades of transportation technical products
• Reduction in transportation-related system downtime and incidents
• Improvement in shipment visibility and tracking accuracy
• On-time delivery of IT transportation projects
• User satisfaction scores from internal stakeholders
• Number of process improvements implemented annually

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain, or related field
• 5-10 years of experience in IT systems related to transportation and logistics and 2-3+years of relevant experience in Blue Yonder TMS (Transportation Management System).
• Hands-on experience with Blue Yonder TMS (Transportation Management System), FOM (Freight Order Management) & TMOD (Transportation Modeling)
• Strong understanding of transportation operations and supply chain processes
• Experience with system integration, APIs, and data mapping
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (verbal & written)
• Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines in a fast paced environment
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a positive and timely manner.

Work hours: 1 PM to 10 PM IST
