Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer

Location: Bengaluru (IISc vicinity) | Full-Time | Onsite

About the Role

We're seeking a hands-on Power Electronics Design Engineer with deep expertise in high-voltage converter development — someone who has taken multiple power products from concept to market. This role involves end-to-end design, validation, and productization of next-generation converters and power modules used in energy systems, automation platforms, and smart manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities


• Design and develop isolated and non-isolated DC-DC / AC-DC converters (up to kW range) with emphasis on efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability.


• Conduct circuit simulation, schematic design, and PCB layout review using tools like MATLAB/Simulink, LTSpice, or Altium.


• Own prototype-to-production lifecycle — from component selection, prototyping, and testing to certification and field validation.


• Implement and optimize control algorithms for SMPS, Flyback, Forward, and Resonant topologies.


• Lead thermal, EMI/EMC, and reliability testing, ensuring compliance with relevant IEC/UL standards.


• Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and systems engineers for end-to-end integration of power subsystems.


• Interface with vendors and manufacturing partners to scale validated designs into production.

What You'll Bring


• M.Tech / M.E. in Power Electronics or related specialization.


• 6–8+ years of hands-on experience designing and shipping high-voltage power electronics products.


• Proven record of at least two commercially released converter-based products (EV chargers, SMPS, inverter modules, etc.).


• Strong knowledge of topology selection, magnetics design, MOSFET/IGBT/SiC device selection, and thermal management.


• Experience with control loops (analog/digital), feedback design, and PWM control.


• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, LTSpice, Altium, or similar tools for modeling and simulation.


• Experience with compliance testing, protection circuits, and reliability engineering.

Nice to Have


• Experience with EV powertrain, renewable energy converters, or battery management systems.


• Familiarity with digital power control (DSPs, microcontrollers, STM32, TI C2000).


• Strong documentation and reporting skills; ability to mentor junior engineers.
