Position Title: Parent Counselor

Reporting To: Principal

Location: Nalanda Vidyaniketan School

Salary Range: 20,000 to 30,000 per month (based on experience)

Overview:

The Parent Counselor at Nalanda Vidyaniketan School plays a key role in nurturing strong, positive relationships between parents and the school. This position focuses on providing guidance, support, and resources to parents to ensure the holistic development of students. The counselor collaborates closely with the Principal to address parental concerns, mediate conflicts, and foster a healthy, communicative school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Parent Support and Guidance:

• Serve as the primary contact for parents seeking advice or assistance regarding their child's academic, social, or emotional development.
• Provide counseling to parents on parenting strategies, managing academic pressure, and building effective communication with children.

Mediation and Conflict Resolution:

• Facilitate constructive dialogue between parents, teachers, and school leadership to resolve conflicts or misunderstandings.
• Mediate disputes in a fair, unbiased manner, ensuring clarity and transparency throughout the process.

Workshops and Educational Programs:

• Plan and conduct workshops on child development, positive parenting, mental well-being, and other relevant topics.
• Partner with external experts or organizations to bring additional learning opportunities and support for parents.

Parent-Teacher Collaboration:

• Collaborate with teachers to identify students who require enhanced parental involvement.
• Encourage and support meaningful parent participation in the academic journey of their children.
• Support the planning and execution of parent-teacher meetings to ensure constructive communication.

Feedback and Reporting:

• Gather feedback from parents to evaluate and enhance the school's parent engagement efforts.
• Maintain regular communication with the Principal, providing insights into parent concerns, trends, and outcomes of counseling initiatives.

Crisis Intervention:

• Offer immediate support and guidance to families in crisis, including referrals to appropriate external services when required.
• Collaborate with the school's internal counseling team to implement student intervention plans when necessary.

Administrative Duties:

• Maintain detailed, confidential records of counseling sessions, parent interactions, and outcomes.
• Assist in formulating and reviewing policies related to parent engagement and counseling practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in any discipline is required. However, preference will be given to candidates with a degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
• Experience: Prior experience in counseling, especially in a school or child-related environment, is preferred.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to connect with a diverse parent community.
• Empathy and Compassion: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and foster openness with parents.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: Proficient in handling conflicts and sensitive situations with tact and professionalism.
• Organizational Skills: Capable of managing multiple responsibilities and prioritizing tasks efficiently.

Working Conditions:

• The role is full-time and based on school working hours, with occasional evening or weekend meetings/workshops.
• Handling confidential and sensitive information is integral to the position, demanding a high level of integrity and professionalism.
