Position - ERP Database Administrator

Location - Chennai

Job Description:

The ERP Database Administrator will oversee the installation, configuration, upgrading, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and security of PostgreSQL databases supporting the ERP system. This role requires close collaboration with IT teams, developers, and end-users to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the ERP applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Management:
  • Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL database servers and related applications.
  • Design and implement database schemas tailored to ERP requirements.
  • Monitor database performance and implement necessary changes to enhance efficiency.
  • Expertise in working with popular DBMS platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL (preferred), or MongoDB.
  • Data Integration (SSIS):
  • Develop and manage SSIS packages to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into the data warehouse.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across multiple systems.
  • Performance Tuning:
  • Analyze and optimize database performance to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring efficient data retrieval and processing.
  • Conduct regular reviews and enhance SSIS packages and SSRS reports for efficiency.
  • Security and Compliance:
  • Implement and maintain database security protocols, including user account management and data encryption.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and organizational integrity.
  • Develop and manage backup and recovery plans to prevent data loss.
  • Perform regular data backups and conduct recovery tests to validate backup policies.
  • Collaboration and Support:
  • Work closely with IT and development teams to integrate ERP systems with other applications.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users regarding database functionalities.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Generate regular reports on database performance, usage, and security compliance for management.
  • Design and deploy SSRS reports to provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Cloud Database Services:
  • Understanding of cloud-based database solutions and services, such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL.
  • Experience in migrating, managing, and scaling databases in cloud environments.

Experience (5+ yrs):

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on PostgreSQL databases.
  • Experience managing databases within ERP systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience with SSIS for ETL processes and SSRS for report development.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and BI methodologies.
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL.
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, security, and integrity.
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding.
  • Experience with DBA tools and utilities specific to PostgreSQL.
