Python & Front-End Developer Intern – Backtesting, APIs & Data Visualisation

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and versatile
Python & Front-End Developer Intern
to contribute to our trading backtestplatform. The role is primarily focused on
Python development
for maintaining and extending backtest code, building APIs, and integrating data pipelines.

Alongside this, you will help design a
React-based dashboard
to visualise results and trigger backtests, gaining full-stack experience in a live fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities


•
Python & Back-End Development


• Maintain and enhance Python-based backtest code to support new trading strategies and workflows.


• Build and refine APIs (FastAPI/Flask/Django) that connect the backtesting engine with the web front-end.


• Optimise Python scripts for performance, scalability, and reliability during large backtest runs.


• Collaborate with the data engineering team on database schemas and data pipelines.


• Implement robust error handling, logging, and testable modular Python code.


•
Front-End Development


• Develop a React-based web dashboard that visualisesbacktest results with charts, tables, and interactive UI components.


• Implement features to query historical results from databases and render them clearly.


• Add UI functionality to trigger backtest runs via API calls with proper loading states and feedback.


• Ensure the web interface is responsive, intuitive, and maintainable.

Required Qualifications


•
Python & Back-End


• Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, data processing, and application development.


• Experience with frameworks such as
FastAPI, Flask, or Django
for API development.


• Familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar) and querying concepts.


• Understanding of version control (Git) and best practices in code structure.


•
Front-End


• Hands-on experience with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.


• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and asynchronous data fetching.


• Experience with charting libraries (Recharts, , , etc.).


• Good grasp of HTML, CSS, and UI/UX principles.

Preferred Qualifications


• Exposure to trading platforms, financial data, or time-series visualisation.


• Knowledge of backtesting frameworks or event-driven trading logic.


• Experience with Docker or containerised dev environments.


• Familiarity with CI/CD workflows for Python projects.
