Cloud Architect

Job Description:

  • Lead the Assessment, planning, design, and execution of on-premises to Google Cloud migration.
  • Conduct detailed Pre-migration assessments of the Application, dependent software components, existing environment and create tailored migration strategies. Identifying impediments and the best possible solutions for the same.
  • Assess pre-application and identify migrate best strategies (Rehost, Re-platform, Refactor, etc.) along with an appropriate type of landing zone.
  • Define and implement robust workflows, tools, and methodologies to ensure seamless migration.
  • Execute proof-of-concepts and pilot migrations to validate approaches
  • Design and document scalable, secure, and high-performing GCP architectures.
  • Driving migration phase activities, post-migration activities, and rolling back activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align cloud transformation goals.
  • Ensure operational excellence by optimizing cloud workloads for performance, stability, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement and monitor security controls to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Drive database migration activities by working closely with development / DB teams and identifying the best strategies, which also includes infrastructure capacity planning.

Required Tech Domains of Expertise

  • Extensive hands-on experience with GCP cloud migration
  • Expertise in selecting propriate Cloud Service providers based on application architecture and organizational needs (AWS, Azure, GCP) would be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency with migration tools like M2VM, HCX, DMS
  • Experience migrating legacy applications
  • Very good understanding of GCP NCC architecture
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Pre-migration activities like software upgrades, application server migrations, OS upgrades
  • Post deployment monitoring and troubleshooting stability, performance issues with applications on the cloud.
  • Experience with DB migration strategies.

Preferred Tech Domains of Expertise

  • Familiarity with containerization (Rancher, Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills on issues related to network, application / DB issues, security issues etc.
  • Strong understanding of GCP cost optimization strategies and monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Splunk, Google monitoring tools, etc.
  • Experience with conducting security risk assessments specific to cloud, implement security controls, conducting periodic audits, establish incident response for security breaches, ensure compliances like CUI data compliance (NIST SP etc. Guide teams to resolve any gaps identified in the assessments / audits.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure components, gateways and ability to distinguish needs of public internet facing applications and applications operating within private networks.

Additional Details

  • Ability to work closely with different teams like development, infrastructure, DBAs, and platform engineering, etc.
  • Ability to provide open-source solutions / alternatives for current software components
  • Ability to assess applications and provide the best, cost optimized solutions for the long term. This applies to cloud migration of applications using legacy software, Software which is nearing or already on end of service life.
