Overview The Ab Initio Developer plays a critical role in the data engineering team of our organization, responsible for developing, designing, and maintaining robust data integration processes using Ab Initio tools. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth flow of data from various source systems to target systems, thus supporting analytics and business intelligence operations. As organizations continue to generate large volumes of data, the demand for skilled Ab Initio Developers who can translate business needs into efficient ETL solutions is ever-increasing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Ab Initio and a solid understanding of data warehousing concepts. Working closely with data architects, business analysts, and other stakeholders, the Ab Initio Developer ensures that data processing is efficient, accurate, and meets compliance standards. This position not only focuses on development but also emphasizes best practices in data handling and security, ultimately driving data-driven decisions within the organization. Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement ETL processes using Ab Initio.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements.
  • Create data mapping specifications and design documents.
  • Utilize Ab Initio components such as Graphs, Components, and Procedures.
  • Perform data validation and quality checks throughout the ETL process.
  • Optimize existing ETL processes for performance and scalability.
  • Conduct unit testing and assist in the overall testing strategy.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues in ETL workflows.
  • Participate in code reviews and enforce software engineering best practices.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of ETL processes and standards.
  • Monitor and support the ETL processes in production environments.
  • Collaborate with the data warehousing team to improve overall data architecture.
  • Implement data security measures and compliance protocols.
  • Stay updated with the latest Ab Initio features and developments.
  • Provide technical support during and after implementation phases.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Ab Initio development.
  • Strong understanding of ETL concepts and data integration techniques.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with databases like Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2.
  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux environments.
  • Experience in performance tuning of ETL processes.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and complex data structures.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data governance and data quality practices.
  • A proactive approach to learning new technologies and tools.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality outputs.
