Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Support
  • Assist in comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction, visual acuity testing, and basic diagnostic procedures.
  • Perform preliminary assessments (case history, vision screening, intra-ocular pressure, etc.) under supervision.
  • Prepare patients and instruments for advanced diagnostic tests (OCT, Fundus photography, etc.).
  • Patient Interaction
  • Explain procedures and provide clear instructions to patients in Malayalam and English.
  • Guide patients through pre- and post-examination steps and ensure comfort.
  • Data & Reporting
  • Accurately record clinical findings in EMR/ZOHO or designated software.
  • Maintain and update patient files, test results, and daily logs.
  • Equipment & Hygiene
  • Check and calibrate optometry equipment daily.
  • Follow hospital infection-control and sterilization protocols.
  • Learning & Development
  • Participate in daily case discussions, internal training, and continuing education sessions.
  • Complete assigned research or presentation tasks as part of internship learning goals.

Core Skills & Qualities

  • Strong fundamentals in optics, refraction, and ocular health.
  • Good communication skills in Malayalam and English.
  • Attention to detail, professional grooming, and patient-friendly attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Optometry (final year student or recent graduate) from a recognized institution.
  • Basic computer skills; EMR familiarity preferred.

Work Schedule

  • 6-day work week, duty hours as per hospital roster (including Sundays if required).
