Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Support
- Assist in comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction, visual acuity testing, and basic diagnostic procedures.
- Perform preliminary assessments (case history, vision screening, intra-ocular pressure, etc.) under supervision.
- Prepare patients and instruments for advanced diagnostic tests (OCT, Fundus photography, etc.).
- Patient Interaction
- Explain procedures and provide clear instructions to patients in Malayalam and English.
- Guide patients through pre- and post-examination steps and ensure comfort.
- Data & Reporting
- Accurately record clinical findings in EMR/ZOHO or designated software.
- Maintain and update patient files, test results, and daily logs.
- Equipment & Hygiene
- Check and calibrate optometry equipment daily.
- Follow hospital infection-control and sterilization protocols.
- Learning & Development
- Participate in daily case discussions, internal training, and continuing education sessions.
- Complete assigned research or presentation tasks as part of internship learning goals.
Core Skills & Qualities
- Strong fundamentals in optics, refraction, and ocular health.
- Good communication skills in Malayalam and English.
- Attention to detail, professional grooming, and patient-friendly attitude.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Optometry (final year student or recent graduate) from a recognized institution.
- Basic computer skills; EMR familiarity preferred.
Work Schedule
- 6-day work week, duty hours as per hospital roster (including Sundays if required).
