Job Description Associate Professor in Physiology

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching & Academics:

  2. Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Physiology.

  3. Supervise and mentor PG students (if applicable).
  4. Conduct internal assessments, viva voce, and evaluation.

  5. Design and update curriculum as per NMC or institutional guidelines.

  6. Research & Publications:

  7. Conduct independent research and publish in indexed journals.

  8. Guide postgraduate dissertations and research projects.

  9. Seek research funding where possible.

  10. Administrative Responsibilities:

  11. Assist in departmental administration and planning.

  12. Participate in college committees and academic bodies.

  13. Contribute to NAAC/NABH/NMC documentation and inspections.

  14. Clinical/Practical Work:

  15. Supervise and demonstrate practical physiology experiments.

  16. Ensure upkeep of laboratories and teaching aids.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Academic Qualification: MBBS with MD (Physiology) or equivalent qualification recognized by NMC.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years teaching/research experience as Assistant Professor in Physiology.
  • Publications: As per NMC guidelines typically 2–4 publications in indexed journals.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong academic background and passion for teaching.
  • Research aptitude and publication track record.
  • Good communication and leadership abilities.
  • Familiarity with modern teaching methods and simulation tools.

Job Description – Assistant Professor in Physiology

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching & Academics:

  2. Teach undergraduate students (MBBS, BDS, Nursing, Allied Health).

  3. Support postgraduate teaching under the supervision of senior faculty.

  4. Conduct and assist in exams and evaluations.

  5. Research & Publications:

  6. Initiate or assist in research projects.

  7. Aim to publish in national/international indexed journals.

  8. Assist PG students in research methodology.

  9. Departmental Duties:

  10. Conduct and demonstrate physiology practicals and tutorials.

  11. Maintain records, lab equipment, and teaching materials.

  12. Student Support:

  13. Provide academic counseling and mentoring to students.

  14. Assist in co-curricular/extra-curricular activities.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Academic Qualification: MBBS with MD (Physiology) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: Fresh MDs or up to 3 years' teaching experience.
  • Publications: Preferably at least one publication (as per NMC norms), though not mandatory for freshers in some cases.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Passion for teaching and subject knowledge.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of research methodology.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to departmental growth.
