Role & responsibilities

Production & Operations for Rear Axle Assembly

  • Plan, execute, and monitor rear axle assembly operations for HD, LD & SCV & EV vehicles as per production schedules.
  • Ensure line balancing, takt time adherence, and optimal manpower utilization.
  • Coordinate with PPC, Stores, and Logistics to ensure uninterrupted material flow.
  • Monitor daily production, address bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure assembly processes comply with defined SOPs, control plans, and quality standards.
  • Monitor FPY, PPM, and defect trends; drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Ensure torque tightening, setting of backlash, bearing preload, and leak-free assemblies.
  • Support audits (Internal, Customer, ISO/IATF) and ensure closure of NCs.

Manpower Management

  • Lead and supervise team members, operators, and contract manpower.
  • Ensure skill matrix availability and conduct on-job training.
  • Maintain discipline, attendance, and shift rostering.
  • Promote multi-skilling and productivity improvement initiatives.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with EHS norms, safety guidelines, and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety audits, and ensure use of PPE.
  • Drive zero accident culture on the shop floor.

Cost & Productivity Improvement

  • Drive Kaizen, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Reduce rework, rejection, line stoppages, and material wastage.
  • Improve OEE and reduce cycle time.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with Maintenance for equipment uptime and breakdown reduction.
  • Liaise with Quality, Engineering, and Supplier teams for process improvements.
  • Prepare daily/weekly MIS reports on production, quality, manpower, and safety.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering

  • Strong knowledge of rear axle assembly processes (differential, carrier, hubs, brakes)

  • Understanding of HD, LD & SCV axle variants

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, Kaizen

  • Ability to analyze defects and drive problem-solving (8D, Why-Why)

  • Good people management and communication skills

  • Hands-on exposure to torque tools, gauges, and assembly fixtures

  • Knowledge of Paint Shop
