Responsibilities

Lead Architect reviews solutions architecture for multiple projects/programs and make sure that they align with the target architecture and strategy. The person also contributes towards creation of target architecture for the BU. The Lead Architect works with the solution architects and senior architects to make sure that the delivered architecture is in alignment with the broad architecture guidance. He partners and creates broad architecture patterns and BU Architecture Guidance.

Architecture

  1. Reviews the Logical and Conceptual Solution/Architecture for programs and epics.
  2. Provides techno functional leadership to the broader community. The person needs to have a complete breadth of knowledge of the overall Business, technical and functional spectrum.
  3. Should be able to guide and mentor architects/senior architects in the BU or across BU. S/He partners with other architects to create broad based guidance.
  4. The person should works with Enterprise architects, and Application and infrastructure teams to ensure architecture compliance. He partners with others for the overall architecture strategy and organizational high level initiatives. Viewed as a technical leader across multiple disciplines. Ability to adapt to multiple architecture domains and move easily from one to another. The person has to take his design/architecture to the architecture council and the final authority to take decision lies with the Architecture council.
  5. The person should resolve disputes and make architecture tradeoffs
  6. The person should ensure the evolutionary paths are created. S/He should identify/discover the risk mitigation strategies associated with the architecture. S/He analyze risks and report problems to the management
  7. Should be conducting stakeholder management – bringing the all the necessary stakeholders align to the necessary architecture and guidance.
  8. Bring Industry wide best practices and consume external technology trends. Should be able to relate and adopt those trends to the workplace
  9. The person should collaborate with the Delivery and necessary Business stakeholders to make sure their architecture guidance is propagated across BU. (Present Solution to the Delivery and Business stakeholders)
  10. The person should propagate Architecture practice and conduct roadshows (or other Sessions) to demonstrate it.
  11. Active participation/ownership in community of architecture
  12. Analyze risks and report problems to the management
  13. Create BU wise Technology Radar
  14. Maintain morale, both within the architecture group, and externally as well. The latter is done by providing a sound design, when needed, and providing good presentations and materials to let everyone know the architecture is on the right track.

Process and Delivery

  1. Ensure creation of PGS / BU specific SDLC / Execution practices (Design Review, Code Review, Release Management etc.)
  2. Collaborate with Delivery Managers to ensure smooth deliveries. Mitigate technical and Design risks
  3. Report risks to the management

Technical leadership and Management

  1. Partner in Strategy papers/Statement of direction/Best Practices for the BU/Organization.
  2. Mentor and coach architecture teams and ensure BU wise architecture maturity
  3. Lead Community of Architecture Practices
  4. Creating Architecture HLI's
  5. Ensure Application Stewardship
  6. Partners in creation of Architecture Vision
Qualifications

BE/MCA with atleast 10-15 years in architecture

Additional Information

Enterprise architcture skill is must.
