We are seeking a skilled Backup admin to join our global backup operations team. The role involves monitoring, managing, and optimizing backup services and technologies deployed across multiple geographies.
Our backup ecosystem includes:- Technologies: Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Cohesity, Rubrik, and more
- Environments: On-premises systems running Linux/Windows, bare metal servers, VMware, and other virtual infrastructures
As the backup administrator, you will be responsible for backup operations, continual service improvement, and vendor coordination. Your goal will be to maintain a highly available, reliable, secure, and efficient backup environment for internal customers.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of data protection services: Backup & Recovery, Solution Design, Implementation, and Migrations.
- Maintain and enhance backup environments to meet performance, availability, and compliance standards.
- Manage installation, configuration, and upgrades of backup software and hardware.
- Work extensively with Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity, and related backup solutions.
- Manage and troubleshoot backups for applications including Oracle, MS-SQL, MySQL, MS-Exchange, VMware, NDMP, etc.
- Utilize scripting skills to automate recurring backup and recovery tasks.
- Develop automated backup and recovery solutions using scripts or third-party tools.
- Operate in alignment with ITIL/ITSM processes: Incident, Change, Problem, and Configuration Management.
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements and backup/recovery process documentation.
- Proven expertise in Commvault, Rubrik, and Cohesity.
- Relevant certifications in storage technologies (Commvault, Cohesity, Rubrik at least two preferred).
- Experience in ITIL-based environments or similar operational frameworks.
- Experience in ITIL Service Design.
- Development and maintenance of solution roadmaps.
- Involvement in defining backup/recovery processes and audit support.
