We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Data Scientist - Global Markets
In this role, you will:
The MSS AI team leads the enablement and development of market leading Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) solutions for the Markets and Securities Services division. The team acts both as advisor and builder of novel AI/ML solutions for clients, sales, and trading, and collaborates across MSS business lines and HSBC divisions. We seek to bring innovative ideas and approaches to both AI/ML solutions and to the data sources which underpin their use, to solve existing and new business problems, and to highlight new market and client opportunities. You will be joining as a data scientist to help in deriving the maximal business and strategic value from existing structured and unstructured data, and to identify, source and utilize novel external sources of potential intelligence and insights. as part of a global team. As part of the team you will build, experiment and productionise AI/ML solutions which deliver value to business and clients in close partnership with sales and trading. Whilst experimentation will occur during ideation, the role will focus on realizing value through production deployed solutions. The team is a global team spanning US, EMEA, and Asia, and there will be opportunities for personal growth working closely with the business across the globe. Proficiency in Python programming language for data analysis and AI/ML development, with the knowledge of software development best practices.Experience with leading ML Ops tools to streamline machine learning workflows.Familiarity with machine learning and deep learning techniques; including high frequency time series modelling, along with the standard libraries such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.Exposure to large language models and agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain and Langraph (or similar such as Autogen & CrewAI).Capability to comprehend research papers on cutting-edge AI advancements and tailor them for bank-specific applications.Understanding of industry protocols like MCP and A2A. Understanding of development, deployment and management of AI/ML models on cloud platforms such as Google Cloud. Ability to work collaboratively in a global team environment. Statistics and probability understanding.Data wrangling and database management. Data visualisation tooling (whether in Excel or other 3rd party tools). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in delivering clear and fluent presentations to audiences with varying levels of expertise in areas beyond one's own technical specialisation.Enthusiastic and eager to learn, with a proactive approach to personal development. Knowledge of financial markets and products.High quality further education (e.g. M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics).You'll achieve more at HSBC
