Job Title: Principal Engineer – NVH

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • As the Principal Engineer - NVH, you will lead the vehicle NVH development team, overseeing all phases of vehicle-level NVH delivery throughout the development cycle. Your role will involve guiding and tracking vehicle benchmarking initiatives and establishing robust target setting for multiple vehicle programmes to ensure excellence in NVH performance. You will meticulously review and monitor test plans while coordinating and executing NVH development activities during the physical prototype stages through cross-functional team collaboration (CFT).
  • In addition, you will provide coaching and guidance to your team to ensure smooth implementation of NVH suggestions while balancing constraints related to weight and cost. Your responsibility will extend to delivering vehicle and system-level NVH performance targets across multiple domains, including BIW NVH, sound package NVH, trimmed body NVH, chassis engineering, CFM, suspension and tyre NVH, glass and seals, mounts, as well as seats and steering systems. Meeting NVH targets for PT NVH, road noise, and wind noise will be critical.
  • You will proactively track and plan for NVH risks, deploying effective solutions to secure NVH deliverables on schedule. Another key aspect of your role will be resource development and management, anticipating current and future NVH technology needs and capabilities. Innovating and establishing new processes and technology frameworks from an NVH perspective will be essential in maintaining the company's competitive edge.
  • Participation in subjective jury trials is expected, ensuring alignment with FI NVH programme targets through comprehensive feedback and continuous improvement. You will foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and drive excellence in NVH engineering practices throughout the organisation.

Experience

  • The ideal candidate will possess between 14 to 18 years of comprehensive experience in vehicle NVH development, demonstrating a deep understanding of NVH requirements and solutions across various vehicle architectures. Proven expertise in applying vehicle NVH development tools and methodologies to diagnose and resolve complex NVH issues is essential.
  • Grounded knowledge in vehicle NVH simulation techniques will enable the candidate to effectively predict and improve NVH performance early in the development cycle. Proficiency with advanced NVH analysis tools, including test laboratories, Muller BBM systems, and sophisticated techniques such as ASQ, PCA, TPA, and Sound Power measurements, will facilitate precise NVH assessments and improvements.
  • The candidate should be well-versed with powertrain, driveline, chassis, suspension, sound packaging, and mounting systems, applying refinement expertise throughout development and benchmarking phases. Familiarity with current and emerging NVH technologies and innovative approaches is critical, alongside an understanding of design, manufacturing, and NVH countermeasure strategies. Demonstrated success in leading NVH initiatives that enhance vehicle refinement and customer satisfaction will distinguish optimal candidates.

Qualifications

  • The required educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Design Engineering, such as M.Tech or ME, from reputed institutions. Candidates with an excellent academic record, ideally with a GATE score above 90%, and from premier institutes such as IITs or reputed regional government engineering colleges, will be preferred.
  • The educational background should underpin both theoretical knowledge and practical skills relevant to vehicle NVH engineering, including dynamics, acoustics, vibration analysis, and material science. Continuous professional development and certifications in NVH-related domains would be considered advantageous.
