BIM Manager (Building Information Modeling Manager)

Position Overview

A BIM manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the application and implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards throughout the project lifecycle , ensuring the consistency, accuracy, and usability of information models during the design, construction, and operations phases.

He or she plays a central role in project digital collaboration, coordinating the flow of BIM data between architects, engineers, contractors, and owners, and driving the implementation of the company's BIM strategy and technological innovation.

BIM managers are usually affiliated with the engineering director, project director or technical director system, and are important promoters of enterprise digital transformation and intelligent construction.

Main Responsibilities

1. BIM strategic planning and standard setting

Develop company and project-level BIM implementation strategies, standards and workflows (BEP, BIM Execution Plan) .

Establish and maintain enterprise BIM standards, templates, family libraries, data specifications and other technical systems.

Promote the in-depth application of BIM technology in design, construction, cost estimation, facility management and other aspects.

Track the latest BIM standards (such as ISO 19650, NBIMS, GB/T and industry trends.

1. Project BIM Management and Implementation

Organize and lead BIM project implementation to ensure model accuracy, completeness and delivery quality.

Supervise BIM model collaboration and clash detection (Clash Detection) of various disciplines (architecture, structure, mechanical and electrical, etc.).

Establish model grading standards (LOD, Level of Detail/Development) and information exchange specifications.

Responsible for model review, version control and information integration (Federated Model).

Support project teams in construction simulation (4D), cost analysis (5D) and post-operation and maintenance (6D/7D) model development.

III. Coordination and Cross-departmental Collaboration

As BIM coordinator, coordinate information collaboration between architects, structural engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers and contractors.

Organize regular BIM coordination meetings to resolve model conflicts and design changes.

Report BIM progress and data results to owners, design institutes and construction parties.

Collaborate with IT, engineering and project management departments to promote the integration of BIM with ERP, PM, GIS, IoT and other systems.

1. Technical Management and System Maintenance

Manage BIM platforms and related software systems (such as Revit, Navisworks, Tekla, Bentley, ArchiCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).

Promote the construction of BIM and CDE (Common Data Environment) platform.

Supervise model data security and version management to ensure information consistency and traceability.

Optimize BIM workflows and develop plug-ins or scripts to improve model automation efficiency (such as Dynamo, Python, Grasshopper, etc.).

1. Training and Team Development

Establish and manage the BIM team, and clarify job responsibilities and performance indicators.

Provide BIM skills training and technical support to design, engineering and construction teams.

Promote the construction of internal BIM capability assessment and certification system in enterprises.

Organize cross-project experience sharing to promote the accumulation of corporate knowledge base.

VI. Quality and Delivery

Review and sign off on BIM deliverables to ensure compliance with contract and standard requirements.

Participate in the digital handover at the completion stage of the project to ensure that the owner obtains complete digital assets.

Support facilities management (FM) teams in integrating BIM models with operations and maintenance.

Provide BIM data for subsequent energy analysis, performance optimization and asset management.
