Job Title: Lab Assistant (Calibration)

Key Responsibilities:

a) Sample Preparation and Handling:

  • Assist in preparing samples for testing and calibration.
  • Ensure proper labeling and documentation of samples.
  • Maintain proper storage of samples in compliance with NABL standards.

b) Testing and Calibration:

  • Perform routine tests and calibrations
  • Use laboratory equipment and instruments correctly and ensure they are calibrated as per NABL guidelines.
  • Record test results accurately and maintain appropriate documentation for future reference and audits.

c) Quality Control:

  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all testing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management systems, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of results.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and assessments for NABL accreditation.

d) Equipment Maintenance:

  • Maintain and clean lab equipment regularly to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and minor repairs of lab instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure that equipment is calibrated and maintained in accordance with NABL's calibration standards.

e) Documentation and Reporting:

  • Document all test results, calibration procedures, and equipment maintenance logs as per NABL's documentation standards.
  • Assist in preparing reports, summaries, and analytical data as required by lab managers.

f) Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with NABL standards and regulations for lab safety, handling hazardous materials, and waste disposal.

g) Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and manage the inventory of lab consumables and materials.
  • Assist in the procurement process and ensure the timely availability of required materials.

h) Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge of safety practices in laboratory environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

i) Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new techniques and standards.

j) Educational Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or related field) or a diploma in laboratory technology.

k) Experience:

  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting, especially in accredited laboratories, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with NABL accreditation processes and quality management systems is a plus.

l) Skills:

  • Good understanding of laboratory testing equipment and procedures.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and data entry.
