Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, Assembler, and IBM mainframe technologies. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise-level mainframe applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, and Assembler.
  • Analyze business requirements and convert them into technical specifications.
  • Perform coding, unit testing, debugging, and performance tuning.
  • Work on mainframe tools like VSAM, DB2, ISPF, TSO, SDSF.
  • Modify and optimize existing COBOL/Assembler code for improved performance.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, business analysts, and architects.
  • Prepare technical documentation, job flows, and change control artifacts.
  • Support migration, upgrade, and modernization projects (if required).
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, coding best practices, and security guidelines.

Technical Skills & Qualifications:

  • 412 years of experience as a Mainframe Developer.
  • Strong hands-on experience in COBOL, Assembler, JCL, VSAM, and Utilities.
  • Good understanding of mainframe file structures, batch processing, and memory management.
  • Experience with DB2, SQL queries, stored procedures (optional but preferred).
  • Knowledge of debugging tools like XPEDITOR, Fault Analyzer, Abend-Aid, etc.
  • Experience in performance tuning for high-volume batch jobs.
  • Understanding of SDLC processes, Agile methodologies, and version control tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and coordination skills with global teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to modernization tools (COBOL to Java migration, API integration).
  • Basic understanding of Cloud or DevOps concepts.
  • Experience working in BFSI/Banking domain is a plus.
