The Impact you will have in this role: 

The Enterprise Application Support SRE (EAS SRE) team is responsible for providing technical application support for all DTCC lines of business. Within EAS, the Senior Associate Application Support Engineering /SRE isa senior technical role responsible for working with the team on the implementation of the SRE Principles and Practices to ensure overall reliability, scalability, and performance of critical systems, participate in deep incident analyses, advocating and helping to design monitoring and support processes automation, and collaborating with development teams to ensure system stability and uptime across the organization, promoting a strong SRE culture within the company.The SRE team works closely with development teams, infrastructure and network partners, security partners, Scrum Masters, and business/product partners to improve observability, operational supportability, and resiliency of the business applications.

Your Primary Responsibilities: 

- Scrum ParticipationJoin assigned project stakeholders planning and design sessions, sprint zero and stand-ups to champion NFRs reflective of a strong observability and resiliency traits.
- SRE Team CollaborationActively work in a team of SREs fostering a culture of continuous improvement.Actively contribute to Communities of Practice, Scrum meetings within the broad EAS community.
- System Reliability ArchitectureImplementation ofSRE Principles and Practices to foster reliable, resilient, and scalable systems, considering redundancy, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery strategies. Verify SRE teams design recommendations that will allow the application to recover without cleanup activities or create a recovery runbook for application support team to follow for improved application recovery times.
- Monitoring and AlertingCollaborate with the application development teams to ensure implementation of comprehensive monitoring systems to identify potential issues proactively, define actionable alerts, and establish SLIs (Service Level Indicators) and SLOs (Service Level Objectives).
- Incident/Problem ManagementTimely validate incident and problem diagnosis and resolutions, participate in post-mortem analysis and work with the problem owners to help identify root causes and prevent future occurrences.
- Collaboration with Development Teams:Work closely with development teams to integrate SRE practices into the software development lifecycle, promoting code quality, reliability, and observability.
- Technical Expertise:Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends related to cloud computing, distributed systems, and reliability engineering.
- Operational Readiness:Attend and present operational readiness with application support (EAS L2) at each project management meeting - raise any operational risks and concerns. Test NFRs in UAT environments to validate effectiveness and completeness of operational capabilities.
- Risk ManagementPartner with IT Embedded Risk Managers to identify strategic solutions for risk incidents.
- Metrics and ReportingDemonstrate operational improvements through defined KPIs.

Qualifications: 

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience

Talents Needed for Success: 

- Working knowledge of SRE Principles/Practices and metrics as well as traceability
- Problem-solving skills and passion for automation
- Failure Mode Analysis - evaluate how the application behaves for hardware failures in the middle of processing.
- Knowledge of DevOps toolchains and process
- Demonstrate knowledge of Monitoring / Big data tools such as Splunk ITSI and Dynatrace
- Familiarity with the maintenance and support of AWS functionalities and services
- Working knowledge in the following is a big plus:
- SQL/PLSQL, Unix, Linux, Windows
- Shell Scripting, Python, Perl, JavaScript
- AutoSys, ServiceNow, JIRA
