Your new role

As the Civil Engineer - BESS, you will be responsible for delivering high quality civil and drainage designs to support our BESS projects and broader infrastructure initiatives.

You will work closely with PLUS ES's Business Development team on some of the most exciting renewable connection and storage opportunities, understanding customers' needs and providing an end-to-end solution from initial feasibility and value engineering through to detailed design.

Your key responsibilities will be (but not limited to):

  • Develop civil and drainage designs for BESS and other infrastructure projects.
  • Lead drafting efforts using AutoCAD (or similar) and collaborating with electrical engineers to ensure integrated design outcomes.
  • Conducting technical assessments, developing detailed design specifications, producing bills of materials, providing input to procurement exercises, and ensuring adherence to industry standards, safety in design principles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Enhancing the operational performance of electrical networks and supporting the transition towards a smarter, more resilient grid by leveraging state-of-the-art technology and best practices in civil engineering.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in civil and drainage design within the infrastructure sector and major projects.
  • Extensive knowledge and layout experience for large-scale BESS installations substations and electrical projects.
  • Engineering degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of Australian standards related to Civil engineering, building and Ausgrid's Network Standards.
  • Ability to undertake extensive technical investigations and interpret highly complex technical information, drawings and reports.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly using Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of engineering analysis software, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience in 3D model viewing software, for example Revizto or Navisworks 3D
