Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Security Operations

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• Experience in reliability, capacity management, incident management.

Preferred qualifications:

• 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• 2 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience horizontally scaling large systems.

The Google Threat Intelligence product (GTI) and Security Operations (SecOps) team builds and manages the essential infrastructure, tooling, and automation enabling the Google Security Operations and Google Threat Intelligence products (both standalone SaaS Cybersecurity products) to meet customer needs across multiple aspects including reliability, security of the applications, privacy, regional expansions, capacity, scalability, resilience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the other engineers on the team.
• Engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the two products to identify and develop solutions to both external and internal customer pain points.
• Drive design and implementation of solutions, tools, infrastructure.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
