  • Due Diligence: Assessing the value and risks of IP portfolios for mergers, acquisitions, or investment opportunities.

Litigation and Enforcement:

  • Dispute Resolution: Representing clients in legal proceedings for patent disputes, infringement, and other IP-related matters.
  • Negotiating Settlements: Working to resolve patent infringement claims through negotiation and settlement agreements.

Required Skills and Background:

  • Technical Expertise: A strong understanding of scientific and technical concepts is necessary, often gained through an undergraduate degree in a scientific or engineering field.
  • Legal Knowledge: A law degree and a deep understanding of patent law and procedure are essential.
  • Attention to Detail: The ability to analyze complex technical information, patent documents, and case law accurately.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to draft applications, counsel clients, and litigate in court.
