Job Description:

An Instrumentation Shift Incharge is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all instrumentation and control systems during their assigned shift. This includes overseeing the maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of instruments, as well as supervising a team of technicians. The role also involves ensuring compliance with safety and quality procedures, and communicating effectively with other departments to resolve any issues. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shift Operations:
    Overseeing and coordinating all instrumentation maintenance activities during the shift. 


  • Instrumentation Maintenance:
    Performing routine maintenance tasks like calibration, troubleshooting, and repairs on various instrumentation equipment. 


  • Team Supervision:
    Guiding and supporting a team of instrumentation technicians. 


  • Safety and Quality:
    Ensuring work is performed according to safety and quality standards, and that equipment is properly maintained. 


  • Communication:
    Maintaining clear communication with other departments like operations and maintenance. 


  • Troubleshooting:
    Diagnosing and repairing instrumentation issues using specialized tools and techniques. 


  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintaining accurate records of shift activities, maintenance performed, and any issues encountered. 


  • Performance Monitoring:
    Tracking and reporting on the performance of instrumentation systems and equipment. 


  • Training and Development:
    Providing guidance and training to team members on instrumentation systems and maintenance procedures. 


  • Equipment Management:
    Ensuring all instrumentation equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working order. 



Essential Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing instrumentation equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety and quality procedures.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using specialized tools and techniques for instrumentation maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to document and report on shift activities accurately.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
